Dr. John Casey, Ph. D. Fish Population Genetics, University of Salford, UK. Dr. Casey is a senior scientist in fisheries science and from 2003- 2014 he was Chair of the EU’s Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries. He is currently working in support of the European Common Fisheries Policy with emphasis on assessment and evaluation of regional fisheries management plans and provision of fisheries management advice to the EU. Dr. Pablo Abaunza Martínez, Ph. D. Biology, University of País Vasco, Spain. Dr. Abaunza works at the Spanish Institute of Oceanography in the Oceanographic Centre of Santander and is the current Head of the IEO Department of fisheries. One of his main research interests is the study of mixed stock fisheries and the role of scientists at delineating management plans. MSc. Fabio Carocci, Master´s degree Earth Sciences, University of Rome, Italy. Dr. Carocci joined FAO in 1993 and is now Fishery Information Assistant at the Fisheries Management and Conservation Service working as specialist in spatial data analysis and development of GIS applications to support the analysis of the status of marine fish resources and formulation of fisheries management plans at international level. Prof. Henrique Cabral, Ph. D. Biology (Ecology and Biosystematics), University of Lisbon, Portugal. Professor Cabral teaches at the Faculty of Sciences of University of Lisbon (FCUL) and is the current Director of its Oceanographic Centre. His main research activity in the field of marine sciences and environment focus the interface between oceanographic patterns and fish life-cycles to decipher connectivity patterns in marine and estuarine fishes, including microchemistry. Dr. Manuel Ruiz Villarreal, Ph. D. in Physics, University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Dr. Ruiz Villarreal is a physical oceanographer specialist in numerical modelling of coastal areas. His main interests are the simulation of the variability of ocean conditions at different scales (tides, meteorological events, seasonal and interannual variability) and how they affect the ecosystem.
