Anomalies of the Lagrangian Analysis Components  for the Most Severe Drought Episode over SSA  identified through SPEI-1 during 1980-2015

Monthly anomalies of the precipitation (PRE), atmospheric evaporative demand (AED) and the accumulated precipitation anomalies (AAP) (data from Climatic Research Unit (CRU) Time-Series (TS) 3.24.01) during the most severe drought episode occurred over the RR. Scale in mm/day (top), anomalies of the moisture uptake (E – P > 0) over the sources obtained via the backward FLEXPART experiment with the accumulated anomaly of the sources (AA) during the most severe drought episode occurred over the RR. Scale in mm/day (central), and anomalies in the moisture supply (E – P < 0) from each source over the RR, obtained via the forward FLEXPART experiment with the accumulated anomaly of the supply from all of the sources (AA) during the most severe drought episode occurred over the RR. Scale in mm/day (bottom).

Monthly anomalies of the moisture supply from RR to its remote terrestrial sink and precipitation (PRE) over sink accumulated during the drought episode. Scale in mm/day.
